Media Player

Anyone have experience with media players? I am looking at getting a new one as the cheap WD one i have rarely works, I used to have a full blown HTPC running Media Browser but now with my crappy internet and lack of KAT and really needing VPN to be safe i just want something to watch my already downloaded content on.

Would be nice if it can play most file types and display covers, simple to use no fuss media player but I could be swayed to spend more for extra features or performance.
