Im going on a night run with a few guys on the 31st in and around station creek if he wants to tag along.
Friendly group and you only do what you want to do.
If no then keep me in mind as im always keen to get my pajero dirty

Hey, cheers for the offer mate... Unfortunately the Old Man lives in Mackay and he's coming down so I can fit a part-time 4WD kit to his 100, then of course we need to test it out!! 😁 ... Looks like Andy (y b normal) will be coming too, so will let you know as we get closer... Will be good to have some local knowledge... 🙂

Ok... an update on Coffs run... We will be heading down for the 24th to 28th of Sept. for all who may be interested... Camping info/location details will be added shortly... 🙂

Need to speak to Navman if we may have a sleepover at his place then. 🙂 Keen to come to Coffs for sure. 🙂

Heaps of camping in/around Coffs. If you love camping near the beach then I can recommend Pebly Beach or if you're not keen on the salt water crossing then go to station creek (on the way to pebbly) some very entertaining tracks in the station creek area,
Just came back from a night run in station creek where I lost front drive and my winch packed it in. So after I wash it (it had to rain didn't it) i'll have to diagnose.

^ sounds like it must have been a cracker run mate! Broken drives and cactus winches usually equal a fun run... 😁 ... So you reckon Pebbly Beach or Station Creek may be good for the base/campsite...? My Old Man was wondering what you reckon about Red Rock or Cascades...? Cheers mate...

Wasn't as much fun as you'd think. If I broke a cv or burnt the winch out that would have been more fun to me. This was purely annoying as I would have done a few recoveries instead of being recovered. There's nothing like recovering a Nissan in a Pajero 😎

About camping. There are heaps of places to camp around here I have only been to station creek and pebbly so can only comment on those. visit http://www.nationalparks.nsw.gov.au/Stay and type in Coffs Harbour and then go to the map view and it will show you where all the npws camp sites in the area are.

For 4x4ing thers alot of fun around station creek and if you can find them there's widowmaker, commando army and rover trails to play on.

Believe it or not mate, Commando Track is on the HEMA Navigator, but on the Street Directory function, NOT 4WD or Topo maps...!! Figure that one out! Hehe... We found it Xmas 2012 when we were down that way, but didn't tackle it due to Dad having only just bought the 100, and not really keen on going that far in it first time out...

Definately not overuse. I pulled it apart today and it looks like it must have burnt itself out the last time i used it. What a pita as i need to find a new motor as everything else is good. I haven't been able to look into my loss of fwd yet as i had to fix the father in laws commodore as it had stopped dead. Fixed that so back to the pajero tomorow.
Yeah Commando is there and has 2 sides, there's the easy way (no sweat in my paj in the dry) and the hard way which i don't think i'd do without a pair of lockers and a good spotter.
Army, Commando and Rocky trails are fairly close together on mount Coramba.
Rover trail is in between gaudrons rd and bruxner park rd. Good fun that track without a locker or decent articulation.

Station creek and Pebly Beach are very basic sites but nice none the less.

Yeah, at least killing it trying to conquer a good track is respectable hey..! 😁 hehe...

Sounds like we're gunna have a blast down there... We're all pretty experienced in taking on the hard stuff, and are competent spotters, so should be a cracker run... 🙂

I was just checking out the various camping areas, and I reckon Station Creek looks to be a goer... No aversion to crossing the salt creek, so Pebbly will be a fair choice as well... Looks like the go... How do you get into Station Creek? Do you take Barcoongere Way, or McPhillips? Apparently Barcoongere is now only suitable for high-clearance 4WD's...? Does that mean it's still open, just a whole lot more fun? 😁 .... Really looking forward to this run... Hoping to get in some good fishing while I'm at it too...

I've called Warwick home for the last 25yrs, and have mates living in Killarney, so get down through there pretty regularly...

Have wanted to visit Levuka for about 5yrs but just never seem to get there... 🙁 I hear it's a very nice park... Yeah, CityView is simply because Andy n I have got MAJOR 4WD withdrawal issues!! Hehe 😉 ....

Yeah I get the 4wd itch often but cant spare the $$$ for fuel as I'm not working so I have to wait for a run so I can justify it to the minister of war and finance as im not working atm (soon I hope) so stay at home duties for me until then. But being a 1yr old shes not much help in the garage and I cant get to work on my 4b unless my partner is home. So catch 22 atm

Ha ha yeah, I understand the home duties bit mate... Fulltime single Dad to a 3 1/2yr old daughter and a 2 yr old son... And they LOVE getting into my shed and tools... so while I do actually get to get out there, the job normally takes three times longer due to their "help" !! Ha ha 😁 but wouldn't have it any other way...

Finances suck alright... But I still try to work on getting some good local runs regularly (Janowen Hills, The Springs, Glasshouse etc...) and a good big run once or twice a year... Was Cape York for 5 weeks this time last year, but Coffs is only a short one this year... Wanna do The Kimberley next year if I can arrange it 🙂 ...

Janowen Hills (as a side note) is the BEST park I reckon... 3 days camping and 4WDing for me and the two kids is <$50... Plus maybe $30-$40 diesel used... And the tracks are crackers... Plus Jan and Owen are great people 🙂 ... Ooops, sorry about the advertisement! Hehe...

Hehe yeah, only problem with the place... Rain is probably a 20-30% chance minimum, all year round, and as soon as it starts, they shut the tracks... But at least it keeps them in good nick, not getting torn up all the time... 🙂 ... Lost count of number of trips I've done there, but never been rained out yet (fingers crossed 😉 ) ... reckon there's probably only half a dozen tracks I haven't driven, and they're all easy/medium cos that's no fun! Only 1 Extreme track I haven't attempted, and only 1 I've attempted and failed (due to a busted locking hub...) but STILL made it 3/4 of the way up in 2WD, so I was chuffed... 😁

You lucky bugger. I swear the place has something against me. The pic of the 2 cars at the campsite is not more than 10 minutes before the video. The 2nd pic is us at Killarney having dinner but you cant tell that we battled mud to get out of Janowen
